LinkedIn has named Jessica Jensen, chief marketing officer at Indeed since 2021, as its new chief marketing and strategy officer. The role, which is newly created, will see Jensen oversee LinkedIn’s global marketing, brand, and corporate strategy. She will report to chief operations officer Dan Shapero and begin her position on 21st January.
Jensen’s appointment follows the departure of Melissa Selcher, LinkedIn’s chief marketing and communications officer of four years, eight months ago. Jensen brings extensive marketing experience, having held senior roles at Facebook, Apple, Yahoo, and OpenTable during her career.
In an announcement post, LinkedIn praised Jensen’s expertise, describing her as bringing a “wealth of experience, industry expertise, and deep understanding of the B2B marketplace that will help drive growth.”
Writing on her personal LinkedIn page, Jensen said, “I have watched LinkedIn grow and innovate into a remarkable talent, advertising and educational platform, all while helping so many people learn and grow as professionals.” She added, “As our CEO Ryan Roslansky says, we are the world’s career coach, classroom, and talent marketplace – and I can’t wait to take our platform to the next billion people around the world.”
LinkedIn has recently expanded its capabilities in AI, rolling out tools for hiring, selling, and content creation. The platform has also seen success with video content, reporting a 36% year-on-year increase in video views, alongside a 10% year-on-year revenue uplift, according to its most recent financial results.
Jensen’s appointment comes as LinkedIn continues to evolve its offerings while maintaining a consistent brand identity. In a previous interview marking LinkedIn’s 20th anniversary, then-CMO Melissa Selcher emphasised the importance of staying true to the platform’s mission, saying, “The fact we’re super clear on who we are, why we exist, why people should use the platform has been really helpful in building the brand and steering the company.”
