Hiring in marketing and creative roles is increasing, with more employers looking to expand their teams in response to growing digital transformation demands. According to the latest Hiring Intentions survey from international recruitment firm Robert Half, the number of employers planning to recruit for permanent marketing roles in the first half of 2025 has risen by seven percentage points compared to the latter half of last year.

More than a third (37%) of businesses intend to hire for permanent marketing and creative positions by summer 2025, while 26% plan to bring in more contract resources. The rise in hiring is being attributed to the increasing need for specialist digital marketing skills, particularly as businesses focus on content, SEO, paid search, and CRM expertise.

Madeleine Barnes, practice manager for digital, marketing, and creative at Robert Half, noted that the sector is rebounding after a period of economic uncertainty.

“The marketing function is usually the first to feel the impact of economic slowdowns, so this uptick in hiring intentions is highly promising,” she said. “With digital transformation in marketing and content growing in demand, it’s likely that much of this optimism is being driven by a need for specialists in digital marketing in particular. Indeed, we’re seeing significant demand for digital marketing specialists, social media managers, CRM experts, and SEO and paid search professionals, with design and content skills of particular interest for employers.”

Barnes also highlighted the role of marketing and creative professionals in driving business growth, particularly in supporting sales teams.

“Marketeers and creatives act as the key to boosting business growth, which makes this hiring trend all the more promising following what has been a challenging year,” she added.

The findings suggest that marketing and creative hiring could see further growth as businesses prioritise digital transformation and customer engagement in 2025.
